ARIANNA GOLDMAN

OCD NEWSPAPER

This broadsheet newspaper is a collection of articles, resources, and additional edits about the realities of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and was created with input from two others who have lived experiences with the disorder. OCD is often misunderstood and misrepresented in popular culture and media, masking the all-consuming reality that is this invasive disorder. The front and back covers introduce “Lily” and “Pizza the Hut,” the name of Lily’s OCD*. The orientation of the newspaper rotates as you read it, making the ending truly the beginning and vice versa, to mimic the spiraling, never-ending nature of OCD. The decision to use only type was made to emphasize the obsessive, overwhelming thoughts.

*Naming one’s OCD is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy strategy used to remind someone they are not their OCD.
